In Hudson, the line to receive meal delivery assignments snaked out the door at Amvets Post 208 on South Street.
"They just show up - it's awesome," said Amvets member Chuck Tagan, who himself has volunteered at the 22-year-old Thanksgiving tradition for around a decade. "People just want to be part of a really cool thing."
Amvets commander Bill Rivers said as of 11 that morning it looked like they would be delivering about 440 meals around the region, and serving another 100 at the post - slightly less than the 600 meals served last year.
"But we don't know yet," he said. "We may hit that 600 mark."
Standing in line for delivery assignments were Hudson residents Brady and Jeanne Mayer, who also volunteered with the Amvets last year.
